Video: Who is chef Salt Bae? And Why Is FIFA Investigating Him

After the Argentina vs. France FIFA World Cup final, Turkish chef Nusrat Gokce, often known online as “Salt Bae,” is once again making headlines for his antics.

FIFA is investigating how celebrity chef Salt Bae gained “undue access” to the pitch after the World Cup final, where he happily posed for selfies with bewildered Argentina players, including a bewildered and enraged Lionel Messi.

After Argentina overcame France in a dramatic World Cup final on Sunday, the trophy was seen being hugged and kissed by Turkish chef Nusret Gokce.

The Turkish businessman faced strong criticism for twice grabbing Messi’s arm as he tried to escape the unwanted attention.

Who Is chef Salt Bae ?

Gokce was born in 1983. His father, Fair Gokce, worked as a miner. In an interview with The Times in 2019, the chef said that he left school at the age of 12.

The chef opened restaurants in Ankara, Dubai, and Doha thanks to financial support from Turkish businessman Ferit Sahenk.

Gokce’s life changed in 2017 when he shared a video of himself preparing an Ottoman steak and sprinkling salt on the meat with his hand shaped like cobra in his signature style on Instagram.

The chef is the owner of Nusr-Et, a renowned chain of steakhouses that frequently attracts famous people. In the US, the UK, Greece, and Dubai, he owns 22 restaurants. David Beckham, Usher, and Kylian Mbappe are just a few of the famous people who have dined at these places, where he also serves meat that has been covered in gold.
