Former Olymbic boxer arrested after threatening mass shooting at boxing gym

An ex-Olympic boxer was detained after making threats to open fire inside a Florida gym.

Azea Augustama was apprehended in Miami and charged with three felonies: two counts of making written threats to carry out a mass shooting and one count of making a threat to murder or injure someone.

At a court hearing, he was ordered to be kept under a $3 million bond.

Azea’s membership at Miami’s Boxr gym was terminated earlier this month after he got into a violent argument with someone, according to an affidavit obtained by TMZ. Azea then requested the police to accompany him back into the gym on Tuesday to retrieve the belongings he had left behind, but they had vanished. The affidavit claims that Azea afterwards used social media to express his resentment over his missing possessions and made “threats to kill or cause bodily damage with a handgun.”

He even went so far as to include a deposit receipt for an AK-47 in one of his ominous Instagram photos that referenced the gym.

Later on, he removed the receipt.

Azea was located at the pawn shop where he had initially made the $150 deposit for the pistol after police learned about the threats.
