Again, building collapses in Ibadan

A two-story building situated in the Ashi area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has fallen.

The structure, which is supposed to be utilized as a shopping and office complex purportedly descended at around 2 am on Monday.

Occupants of the region told our journalist that no life was lost in the occurrence which at first made individuals in the space alarm.

Merchandise were said to have been caught under the rubble and caterpillars were subsequently welcome to clear the flotsam and jetsam to rescue a portion of the products and machines.

Another inhabitant, who recognized himself as Taye, said the land whereupon the structure was raised was utilized as a cemetery before it was sold.Taye said bodies were unearthed before the structure was raised on the real estate parcel. The South-West Facilitator of the Public Crisis Support Organization, Saheed Akiode, told our journalist that no one was harmed or killed in the occurrence.

He said, “We went there today and we heard that the structure has been there for around 30 years. In any case, no one was there when it fell since it occurred at around 2am.

“The structure is an office complex and endeavors were being made to rescue a portion of the machines and different resources there. In any case, we are glad that no life was lost and no one was harmed on the grounds that no one was there when it imploded.”

The design imploded under a month prior after an uncompleted five story-building descended at Awosika Road at Bodija. A few bricklayers who rested at the uncompleted inn were harmed in the occurrence which occurred around 5:30 am.
